Emergency team leader - Course ref: ER2
Course objectives:
At the end of this course delegates will have a working understanding of the day-to-day management issues involved in running an emergency team. They will better understand the measures necessary to control an emergency incident. They will understand the theory and practice of incident control and will have developed their managerial ability through syndicate and tabletop exercises.
Who should attend:
This course has been specially developed to train team leaders and deputy team leaders of plant emergency teams who operate with limited equipment and who are expected to carry out limited tasks during an emergency. The course specifically covers the control and management techniques required to safely bring emergency incidents under control and to protect the safety of emergency team members.

- Dynamic risk assessing
- Syndicate and tabletop exercises
- Short test and end of course discussion.
Course director:
Gordon Gledson MIFireE, CFIOSH, MAE. Gordon was a senior officer in the UK Fire Service and served as an instructor and lecturer at the world famous Fire Service College in England.
Course tutors:
All our tutors are fully qualified emergency responders with extensive experience of managing emergency teams and handling emergency incidents.
Competency testing:
Multiple choice test and practical assessment by course tutor. Successful completion of this course fulfils the FOCUS Emergency Team Leader's Initial Assessment criteria. Following a satisfactory interview by the plant health and safety manager the candidate can take up the position of either emergency team leader or deputy team leader.
