Emergency team member - Course ref: ER3

Course objectives:

At the end of this course delegates will have a working understanding of the hazards and precautions involved with bringing emergency situations under control. They will have taken part in practical exercises involving wearing and the control of breathing apparatus wearers, wearing chemical protection suits and use of fire fighting equipment. Delegates will understand the techniques and procedures to apply to bring various emergencies under control, they will have gained confidence in the use of their equipment and know their capabilities and limitations.

Who should attend:

This course has been developed to train members of plant emergency teams, and specifically covers the procedures and techniques required to safely bring emergency incidents under control.

Course tutors:

All our tutors are fully qualified emergency responders with extensive experience of handling emergencies. For the practical aspects of the course a suitably trained and experienced safety officer will also be used.

Competency testing:

Multiple choice test and practical assessment by course tutor. Successful completion of this course fulfils the FOCUS Emergency Team Member's Initial Assessment criteria. Following a satisfactory interview by an emergency team leader or a deputy team leader the candidate may form part of a plant emergency team.
